This course is required for all security guards in order to receive a California Guard Registration Card (Guard Card). California law requires all security guards to be licensed through the California Department of Consumer Affairs, Bureau of Security and Investigative Services.
You must be at least 18 years of age in order to apply for a California Guard Card.
Course Details
Lesson 1: Powers to Arrest – virtual (3hrs)
Lesson 2: Use of Force – must take this in person at our Modesto office (5hrs)
You will have up to 3 hours to take this online course with 1 of those hours being allotted to the Use of Force final exam.
*Upon completion of successfully passing Powers to Arrest, you’ll be emailed a notice saying you’ve successfully passed. You will need to take this notice to the ADF Training Facility to complete the remaining course. You’ll need to schedule your 5 hour course in our office for Use of Force in order to pass the exam. Upon successfully passing the Use of Force at our office, we’ll manually send you a certificate of completion for both courses.
Steps to receive a California Guard Registration Card license:
- Step 1: Take the 3-hour virtual course
- Step 2: Take the 5-hour in person course and receive certificate (location: 3224 McHenry Ave, Suite G, Modesto 95350)
- Step 3: Get Fingerprints taken by a Live Scan Operator
- Step 4: Submit CA State Online Security Guard Application
